Mrs. Takata became the proud principal of Kitsap Lake Elementary in the fall of 2022. She brought with her a wide range of experience as both a teacher and school leader. Before coming to Bremerton, she taught special education and general education at the elementary and middle school levels in the Puyallup and Tacoma School Districts. She also served as a principal in the Mount Baker School District and as the Director of Teaching and Learning in Hoquiam.

At the heart of Mrs. Takata’s leadership are her core values: collaboration, equity, joy, and belonging. She believes schools thrive when students, staff, and families feel valued, supported, and inspired. She is passionate about creating fun, engaging, and inclusive learning environments where every child can grow, achieve, and discover their unique strengths. Her vision is rooted in closing opportunity gaps, ensuring equitable experiences for all students, and preparing every Eagle for a successful future.

A lifelong learner herself, Mrs. Takata earned her Bachelor’s degree at City University in Bellevue, her Master’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University, and her administrative certification from Washington State University. She models curiosity, resilience, and a love of learning in all that she does.

Outside of school, Mrs. Takata is happiest in the great outdoors. She enjoys raising animals, shrimping and crabbing, and spending time exploring nature. She’s also known for her love of Chihuahuas—ask her about them and you’ll see her light up! She and her husband have two adult children, and together they enjoy adventuring, riding dirt bikes in the mountains, and embracing the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or out in the community, Mrs. Takata is dedicated to guiding Kitsap Lake Eagles with care, energy, and vision—always striving to make school a place where everyone belongs and learning takes flight.
