Update from Principal Takata

Dear Eagle Families,

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we navigate this school year together. I hope this email finds you and your family doing well.

I wanted to provide you with a monthly update on what's happening at our school. First, a friendly reminder that if you need to make any end-of-day changes for your child, please inform the school before 2 pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) and 12:45 pm (Wednesday) so we can plan accordingly and communicate these changes safely to your child.

This month, our Purposeful People theme is responsibility, and we will be focusing on this important character trait throughout our lessons and activities. It's been a great start to the year, and we're excited about some of the things happening in our classrooms, including the creation of classroom safe spaces, the implementation of small group instruction, and our ongoing efforts to monitor food waste at lunch.

Looking ahead, we have several exciting events coming up this month. On October 16th, we'll be hosting a Special Grown-Up Luncheon and recognizing Orange Shirt Day. Our Fall Festival is scheduled for October 24th, and we're seeking cake donations for this event. Picture Day is set for October 28th.

Conferences are also approaching, and you can expect to see a pink paper coming home soon inviting you to select a time that works best for your family.

In addition to our school-specific events, October is also designated as Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, Disabilities Awareness Month, Dyslexia Awareness Month, and Filipino American History Month. October 14th is Indigenous Peoples' Day, which is recognized by state law and board policy.

Thank you again for your support. I look forward to a wonderful month ahead.

Sincerely,
Principal Takata

Purposeful People Character Trait Focus for October

Responsibility

This month we are talking about Responsibility. One way to define Responsibility is “taking action and understanding the impact of our choices.” Taking action can mean doing the right thing or completing the tasks you have been assigned. Understanding the impact of our choices means that our actions matter. Positive and responsible actions can help people and irresponsible actions can hurt others.

Conversation Starters:

-Can you describe how flexible thinking helps you to make Responsible choices?

-Share with me how you use flexible thinking to help be more Responsible.

Each month, there are required district recognition and celebration priorities. These monthly celebrations are:

  • required by state law and/or board policy
  • included on the District printed wall calendar
  • include an element/expectation of recognition or an educational component in all schools such as curriculum/lessons, assemblies and/or staff celebration/acknowledgement
