The Talon Times Important Update from Kitsap Lake

The Talon Times

October 2025, Edition 8

Mission:

At KLE, our school family cultivates a supportive environment that prioritizes emotional well being and rigorous academic standards to ensure every student thrives socially and academically.

Vision:

Kitsap Lake Elementary: Where everyone is welcome and everyone belongs.

Eagle Update from Principal Takata

It’s hard to believe we’re already in October! Fall is in full swing, and our students are settled into routines, learning, and showing kindness all around campus. I continue to be so proud of the positive energy our Eagles bring to school each day.

As the weather changes and cold season begins, please remember to call or email our office if your child will be absent or ill. If your child’s go-home routine changes, please notify the office before 2:00 PM so we can ensure everyone gets home safely.

This month, we’re looking forward to our Fall Festival šŸŽƒ and other seasonal activities that bring fun and connection to our school community. We’re also focusing on kindness and belonging through our House system, and it’s been wonderful to see students cheering for one another and showing Eagle pride.

As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. KLE truly is a special place because of our students, families, and staff working together!

Notes from the Nest

ā€œ6–7ā€ at School? Let’s Talk About It!

Every generation has its own funny phrases. When I was in elementary school,Ā (wayĀ back in theĀ 1900's), we said things like ā€œno duhā€ and ā€œgag me with a spoon!ā€ Today’s students have their own versions — like ā€œ6–7ā€Ā and "skibbity toilet".Ā While it might sound silly or make us laugh, we’re using it as an opportunity to talk aboutĀ code switching — knowing when and where certain words or phrases fit best. At school, we practice using ourĀ school language — kind, respectful words that help everyone learn and feel comfortable. Please take a moment to chat with your child about using phrases like ā€œ6–7ā€ at the right time and place, and about following adult directions so everyone can stay focused and have fun learning together. Thanks for your partnership in keeping ourĀ school familyĀ positive and respectful!

Counselor Corner

Hello KLE families

As we continue learning our Bullying prevention curriculum take a moment to discuss with your child the 3 R's of bullying prevention.

Recognize- we see and know bullying is happening.

Report- We find a trusted adult to report, "I would like to report bullying".

Refuse- We stand straight, face the person, and say "stop that is bullying".

If you have questions or would like additional information feel free to contact me.

Have a great weekend

The House that brings the most cake donations will earn 10 House Points!!

Over the past week, we’ve seen our students spreading so much kindness šŸ’›ā€”writing notes to staff, cheering for their friends when they earn points, and celebrating the successes of others. Our Houses were created to bring fun and belonging to KLE, and it’s wonderful to see that happening every day! šŸ¦…šŸ’™šŸ’ššŸ’›ā¤ļø

This week, House Protos hosted our first House Assembly of the year! šŸŽ‰ Students had a blast with Minute to Win It challenges, learned more about Protos’ story, and came together as eight Houses—one KLE family. It was a great reminder of how much joy and connection our Houses bring to our school community! šŸ’«
