As we near the end of October, there’s so much happening at Kitsap Lake! This week, families will receive conference confirmations—please check your child’s backpack for their scheduled date and time. Conferences are an important opportunity to connect and celebrate growth together. We strongly encourage students to attend alongside their parents or guardians—they are, after all, the most important part of our home–school partnership! During conferences, teachers will share updates about your child’s progress in reading and math, including assessment information, learning goals, and ways to continue supporting learning at home. It’s a great time to reflect on the first two months of school and set goals for the months ahead. We’re also looking forward to our Fall Festival on Wednesday, October 30! 🎃 Join us for an evening of fun with food trucks, trick-or-treating, the always-popular cake walk, and other exciting activities. We’ll also be selling House buttons to show your school spirit! This event is our main fundraiser of the year in partnership with our amazing PTO, helping fund field trips, classroom supplies, enrichment activities, and so much more. We appreciate all of the candy and cake donations coming in and can’t wait to see everyone at this fun community event. Thank you for your continued support in making Kitsap Lake such a wonderful place to learn and grow! 💙 — Mrs. Takata, Principal

Hello families! This week our classes have been working on lining up "in number order". Why is that a big deal? Well, our SEL support team reviews behavior data on a weekly basis and we discovered that many of our student escalations begin or end while lining up! Some kids get pushed out of the way, many kids are unsure if they should be in the front or back of the line and kerfluffles break out when kids try to push their way into line. Random line ups result in disorderly and time consuming transitions. We found that classrooms who had already implemented "number order line up" had markedly safer line up transitions. KLE classrooms who implemented this style of line up are getting an extra recess next week along with more time for fun learning in the classroom! Interested in the research? Read this informative article HERE. Check out these amazing videos of our Kindergarten and a fourth grade class showing us safe, swift and calm line ups. Way to go! Have a great weekend! This week we celebrated Unity Day, our students learned how they belong at Kitsap Lake and were able to identify adults they can talk to in our building. We also wrapped up our Bullying Prevention units. Students can now name the 3 R's to prevent bullying, name 4 ways a bystander can use to stop, help and prevent bullying. Our older grades learned the definition of cyberbullying and how it relates to technology. Take a moment to remind your child to report instances where students' feelings or bodies are hurt and identify adults they can report to. Jenn Uniszkiewicz

Parking lot update: Thanks so much for having your placard in the passenger side window for our pick up para to get you checked off. If you could keep it on the window until after your child enters the car, it will help our other staff members on the curb get your child to your car quickly. If you need to place your kiddo into a car seat you can always pull beyond the yellow poles to do so...this will help keep the whole line moving quickly. We appreciate your help with keeping our pick up swift and safe!
 | | | | House Update 🦅💙
This week, we wrapped up our second Character Strong / PurposeFull People trait of the year — Responsibility! 💪 Our students have been learning what it means to be responsible both in and out of the classroom, and we had planned to celebrate all their hard work during our House gathering today, but due to very limited staffing, we had to cancel our assembly. Next week, we will call down the winning students during our morning announcements and share their pictures on our Facebook page.  🌟 Staff Responsibility Champions: Michelle H. and Kathleen B.
Next month, we’ll be kicking off our new trait — Gratitude — and focusing on how we can notice, name, and show appreciation for the people and things that make our school community great. 🍂 We’re also continuing to collect candy and cake donations for the Fall Festival on October 30! 🍬🍰 A big shout-out to Reveur House, who is currently in the lead for candy donations! Let’s see if any of the other Houses can step it up and finish strong — the competition is close, and every donation helps make our festival even more fun! 🎉 Keep showing your House pride and demonstrating Responsibility, Eagles — one month down, and many great things ahead! 💙 🏆 House Leaderboard 🏆 Nukumori-231 points (3rd week in a row at the top) Amistad-226points Isibindi-219 points Altruismo-218 points Onraka-215 points Protos-202 points Sollevare-201 points Reveur-197 points 🏆 Student Leaderboard 🏆 Top Point Earners: Kayden R. 23 points (Amistad) Faith B. 18 points (Sollevare) Chevy B. 17 points (Nukumori)
 | | | | November Trait-GratitudeFor the month of November, our focus trait is Gratitude. One way to think about Gratitude is “choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives.” Practicing Gratitude can increase our well-being and our happiness.
