We want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all the families who joined us for conferences. We truly enjoyed meeting with you, celebrating your child’s growth, and partnering around next steps for their success. Our goal this year was to reach 100% family participation, and while we had a strong turnout of about 80%, we would still love to connect with those we missed. If you were unable to attend your conference, please call the office so we can help you schedule a time to meet with your child’s teacher. Your partnership makes a tremendous difference, and we want to make sure every family has the opportunity to connect.
As we head into our classic Washington fall weather, I want to share a quick reminder about our recess routines. As Washingtonians, we try to get our students outside as often as possible—even when it’s rainy. Fresh air and outdoor play are important for learning, regulation, and joy, and a little drizzle doesn’t slow us down!
If your child loves to explore puddles or tends to come back from recess a bit muddy, we encourage you to send a spare set of clothes in their backpack. While we do keep a small supply of extras on hand, we don’t have enough for everyone, and having their own dry clothes helps students feel comfortable and ready to learn. We also find that experiencing natural outcomes—like realizing that wet socks don’t feel great—can be a gentle way for students to learn to make good choices about how they play outside.
With the shift in weather, this is also a good time to keep an eye on ParentSquare for any updates regarding potential late starts or emergency closures due to inclement conditions. If you haven’t already, please make sure your contact information and notification settings are up to date so you don’t miss important messages.
Thank you for helping your child be prepared for the season and for partnering with us to keep all our Eagles safe, warm, and ready to learn.
Have a wonderful week!

Thank you Veteran's
Today, our school came together for a special Veterans Day assembly to honor and thank all who have served—including the many veterans within our KLE community and among our families. We are deeply grateful for your service, sacrifice, and commitment. Under the thoughtful leadership of Ms. Dodge, our Music Teacher, our entire school participated in a beautiful and meaningful program. Each grade level shared a performance—from songs and poems to reflections of gratitude—that highlighted students’ learning and heartfelt appreciation. Our students showed great respect, and it was a powerful reminder of the values of courage, service, and community that we strive to uphold at Kitsap Lake.

Notes from the Nest
In the month of November, our school family focuses on Gratitude. I want to take a moment to share our deep gratitude for our incredible paraeducators. As you may know, our paraeducators support at recess and lunch, in classrooms with student support and across the school contributing so much care and love to our community. This week, our paras met together as a Professional Learning Team to brainstorm thoughtful, consistent ways to respond to student behaviors across our school, and their professionalism shone through every step of the way. They bring strength in building trusting relationships with students, a calm and positive attitude, and a genuine commitment to helping every child feel safe and supported. We are so thankful for all they do for our school community each day!
With gratitude,
Maura Crisp, SEL Dean of Students

Counselor Corner
Hello KLE families,
This week we celebrated World Kindness Day with the help of House Nukumori. We learned what it means to be kind at school and how we can be kind not just one day, but everyday. We discussed that kindness does not have to cost anything. Kindness is about the small acts that help others (helping someone who is lost, saying hello, inviting someone to join us at recess and so much more).
In our counselor lessons our kindergarten friends are learning about small and big problems. 1st-5th are learning about perspective and how important it is to solve conflicts. Take a moment to talk with your child about understanding other perspectives and how it is key to helping us solve problems.
Have a great weekend

November Trait-Gratitude
For the month of November, our focus trait is Gratitude. One way to think about Gratitude is “choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives.” Practicing Gratitude can increase our well-being and our happiness.
