Dear Kitsap Lake Families,
As we begin Winter Break today, I want to take a moment to wish each of you a restful, joyful, and safe time together. This season offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the simple moments that often get lost in our busy school routines.
For many children, maintaining some familiar routines—regular bedtimes, reading time, or daily movement can help make the transition back to school smoother. At the same time, Winter Break is also a chance to relax, sleep in a little, laugh often, and enjoy family traditions, whether they’re long-standing or brand new.
We encourage students to read for fun, get outside when they can, help around the house, and most importantly, spend quality time with the people who care about them most. These moments matter just as much as the learning that happens in the classroom.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our school community. We are grateful for the trust you place in us each day and for the kindness and care you show our staff and one another.
We wish you peace, warmth, and happiness over the break. We look forward to welcoming students back refreshed and ready to learn in the new year.
With gratitude, Principal Takata

Families,
Please remember to communicate any dismissal or bus changes directly with the front office. These updates can be shared through ParentSquare or by calling the office.
When using ParentSquare, you are welcome to send a group message that includes your child’s teacher along with Samantha Gorham (Front Office) and Lisa Jennings (Front Office). While we appreciate you keeping the teacher in the loop, including the front office helps ensure changes are received and processed promptly—especially if a teacher is out or unable to relay the message.
The end of the day is a very busy time in the office, so we truly appreciate dismissal changes being communicated as early as possible. Please call before 2pm with any changes. Our staff is focused on students at dismissal therefore not always able to take last minute calls with changes. Thank you for your partnership in helping us keep all students safe and accounted for.

Notes from the Nest
As we head into the holiday season and prepare for a fresh start in the new year, we want to celebrate the joy, kindness, and care we see from our students each day. From helping one another, to sharing smiles and encouragement, our school community continues to grow stronger through connection and compassion.
When we return from break, we will continue to support students in making safe, respectful choices that help everyone feel calm, welcome, and ready to learn. Thank you for partnering with us in reinforcing kindness, safety, and empathy—together, we can ensure the new year begins with a sense of joy and belonging for all.

Counselor Corner
Dear Families,
As we approach the holiday season, I hope this time brings rest, joy, and meaningful moments with the people you love. The weeks ahead can be full of excitement, but they can also feel busy and overwhelming—especially for children. Creating space for rest, routine, and connection can make a big difference.
When we return next month, our counseling lessons will focus on the importance of including others. Students will learn about empathy, kindness, and ways to make everyone feel welcome and valued.
Thank you for your continued partnership. I wish your family a peaceful, restful holiday season and a happy, healthy new year!
Warmly, Jenn Uniszkiewicz

What a week it has been at Kitsap Lake! As many students eagerly discovered each morning, our mischievous elf has been busy causing all kinds of (mostly harmless 😉) trouble around the building. From silly surprises to unexpected appearances, the elf certainly kept our Eagles on their toes and filled our hallways with laughter.
We are happy to report that after a week of antics, teamwork, and careful investigation, the elf has officially been caught and safely shipped back to the North Pole where we’ve been assured she will remain for the rest of the season. The building is once again calm… at least for now!
These lighthearted moments are a fun way to build joy, connection, and school spirit, and we loved seeing students’ excitement, curiosity, and big smiles each day. Thank you for sharing in the fun and for supporting these small moments that help make school a happy place to be.
We hope this brought a little extra magic and laughter to your child’s week as we head into Winter Break. Wishing you all a joyful and restful time together!

January Trait- Perseverance
For the month of January, we will be learning about Perseverance. We all experience challenges in our lives and have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up. We need to develop tools that help us work through those challenges and grow instead of giving up. Perseverance is pushing yourself to work through challenges and obstacles.
