Happy New Year and welcome back, families! We hope you had a restful and joyful break and are excited to kick off the new year together. As we settle back into routines, please remember to have students arrive on time, dressed for the weather, and ready to learn each day. Be sure to check ParentSquare regularly for important updates, upcoming events, and reminders. With cold and flu season upon us, we appreciate your help in keeping our school community healthy. Please encourage good handwashing, and keep students home if they are feeling unwell. Thank you for your continued support, we’re looking forward to continuing a great year ahead!
With gratitude, Principal Takata

Notes from the Nest
Welcome back to school! We hope your family enjoyed a restful break and that students are ready to jump back into learning.
As we settle into routines, please remember that all toys should stay at home—including popular items like Labubu dolls and keychains. These items are distracting, easily lost during the school day and given away and/or taken by others. A majority of our disciplinary actions this week have been around this issue and there have been frequent tears and arguments over holiday toys.
Thank you for helping us keep classrooms focused, safe, and fun for all students!

Counselor Corner
Dear Families,
This month in counseling lessons, students in all grade levels have been learning about what it means to be inclusive. We discussed the definition of inclusion and explored how our words and actions can help others feel welcomed, valued, and respected. Students learned what inclusive means and why it is important. How including others helps build kindness and belonging. Ways they can be an upstander and invite others to join in.
Ideas at Home
Encourage empathy: Help your child think about how their actions and words affect others.
Celebrate differences: Talk positively about what makes people unique and special.
Problem-solve together: If your child shares a situation involving exclusion, discuss inclusive choices they could make next time.
By working together, we can help students develop empathy, respect, and a strong sense of belonging. Thank you for supporting these important social-emotional skills at home!
Warmly, Jenn Uniszkiewicz

January Trait- Perseverance
For the month of January, we will be learning about Perseverance. We all experience challenges in our lives and have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up. We need to develop tools that help us work through those challenges and grow instead of giving up. Perseverance is pushing yourself to work through challenges and obstacles.
