The Talon Times Important Update from Kitsap Lake

The Talon Times

January 2026, Edition 22

Mission:

At KLE, our school family cultivates a supportive environment that prioritizes emotional well being and rigorous academic standards to ensure every student thrives socially and academically.

Vision:

Kitsap Lake Elementary: Where everyone is welcome and everyone belongs.

Eagle Update from Principal Takata

We are asking for your help in reviewing restroom expectations with your child. Recently, we have seen an increase in bathroom behaviors and a need to reinforce courtesy and respect in these shared spaces. Please talk with your child about using the restroom appropriately by giving others privacy, keeping hands and feet to themselves, using kind language, and taking care of school property. Students should use the restroom efficiently and leave it clean for the next person. Partnering together on these expectations helps ensure our restrooms remain safe, respectful, and comfortable for everyone.

With gratitude,
Principal Takata

SEL Spotlight

Counselor Corner

Dear KLE families,

January is a time to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his powerful message of choosing words and actions that show respect, courage, and kindness. Every day, we get to decide how we treat others and how we speak up for what’s right.

Jokes and 'roasting' might seem harmless, but when they cross the line, they can hurt more than we realize—especially once words spread beyond the moment. Humor should never come at the cost of someone’s dignity. Let’s aim for laughter that includes, not excludes.

As the semester wraps up, it’s the perfect time to reset.

Let’s start this new semester by being kind with our words, and let's lift ourselves and each other up.

Warm regards,

Jenn Uniszkiewicz

Emergency Release Forms

Next week, students will be bringing home pink Emergency Release Forms for families to review and complete. It is critical that all forms are filled out accurately and returned as soon as possible. This week, our school practiced a reunification drill, and these forms are essential in helping us know who we can and cannot release your student to in the event of an emergency or if we are unable to access online student information. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe by prioritizing the prompt return of this form.

February Trait- Honesty

The focus for February is practicing Honesty to help with emotion awareness. It’s not always easy to be Honest in our words, actions, or thoughts with others or with ourselves. Practicing Honesty with ourselves allows us to identify emotions, be aware of our emotions, and manage our emotions.
