Safe and Consistent Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Dear Families,
We are asking for your continued partnership in maintaining safe and consistent procedures during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.
Recently, we have observed instances of students being dropped off before reaching the crosswalk area. While this may seem like a small adjustment, it creates safety concerns and disrupts the flow of our drop-off system. When one family deviates from procedures, others often follow, which increases risk for students and staff.
Our arrival and dismissal procedures are designed to:
Ensure all students are supervised in a safe, predictable environment
Maintain an efficient flow of traffic
Prevent students from entering active driving areas
Additionally, part of our role as a school is to help students learn to follow expectations that support safety in the broader community. When students observe adults not following established procedures, it can create confusion and make it more difficult for them to understand the importance of these expectations.
We ask that all families:
Use designated drop-off and pick-up locations only
If you need to assist your child getting in or out of the vehicle, please park in the parking lot and walk them to the crosswalk
Ensure students exit vehicles in the after the crosswalk from the passenger side, not in the roadway
Follow all staff directions during dismissal
Your partnership is essential in keeping all students safe and reinforcing the expectations we work to teach each day.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for your continued support.
Warmly, Principal Takata

Counselor Corner
Regular school attendance plays a vital role in your child’s success. When your child is present at school, they not only engage in academic learning but also develop important social skills and build meaningful relationships with peers and teachers. These daily interactions help foster confidence, communication skills, and a sense of belonging.
Even missing just 10% of the school year—about 2 days a month or 18 days total—can significantly impact your child’s learning. Research shows that this level of absence increases the likelihood that a child may not read or perform at the same level as their peers.
We want to partner with you to support consistent attendance. After 2–7 unexcused absences within a school year, our school is required to take data-informed action steps to help reduce and prevent further absences. Additionally, district policy requires that after 5 excused absences, we communicate with families to review attendance expectations and ensure you are informed about our policies.
Our goal is to work together to support your child’s success. If there are challenges affecting attendance, please reach out—we are here to help.
With care and support, Jenn Uniszkiewicz

We’re excited to introduce a new way to celebrate our community, the KLE House Family Wall! Our House system is all about connection, belonging, and celebrating the amazing families that make Kitsap Lake so special.
If you’d like to participate, please send a printed photo of your family with your student. These will be displayed on our House Family Wall so students can see the wonderful community they are a part of. As a bonus, students will earn a House point for bringing in a photo!
Please write your student’s name and teacher on the back so we can return it at the end of the year if needed. If you need help printing a photo, feel free to reach out to the office, we’re happy to help!
