Eagle Update from Principal Takata

Hello Parents & Families!

As part of our school improvement goals, we have been working hard to strengthen our students’ sense of school belonging by building positive relationships, connection, and community within our school. Our next step is expanding that work to focus on community belonging by creating meaningful partnerships with local businesses and organizations.

Do you know of a business or organization that would like to become a community partner with our school/program? We would love to connect with businesses that are interested in supporting, engaging with, and building relationships with our students and families.

If you have a recommendation, please send us the business name, contact person, and contact information. Thank you for helping us strengthen the connection between our school and community!

Best regards,

Principal Takata

Notes from the Nest

Dear Families,

As we begin the countdown to the last days of school, many students experience a mix of excitement, big energy, and stress. Changes in routine, end-of-year activities, testing, and saying goodbye to teachers or classmates can sometimes lead to bigger emotions and unexpected behaviors.

You may notice your child feeling more tired, emotional, worried, or easily frustrated during this time of year. This is very normal.

Here are a few ways families can help ease stress at home:

  • Keep routines as consistent as possible, especially bedtime and morning schedules.
  • Encourage outdoor play, movement, and screen-free time to help students regulate their bodies and emotions.
  • Check in with your child each day and give them space to talk about their feelings or worries.
  • Celebrate small successes and positive moments from the school day.
  • Remind students that it is okay to have big feelings and that trusted adults are here to help.

At school, we will continue supporting students with predictable routines, calming strategies, and opportunities to connect with trusted adults.

Thank you for your partnership and support as we finish the school year strong together!

Warmly,

Maura Crisp

Counselor Corner

Dear Families,

As we continue our Second Step safety lessons, students are learning about safe and unsafe touches and how to respond in unsafe situations.

Students are learning that:
Unsafe touches hurt your body or break school rules, such as hitting or pushing someone and making them fall.
Safe touches help people feel cared for and supported, such as a hug from a parent or a high five from a friend.

We are also practicing the three safety steps:
Recognize – Ask yourself, “Is this safe?”
Refuse – Say “No” and “That is not okay.”
Report – Tell a trusted adult and ask for help.

We encourage you to talk with your child about who their trusted adults are and how they can report concerns both at home and at school.

Thank you for partnering with us to help create a safe and supportive school community.
