I am so excited to be here as your new Principal. The teachers, secretaries, paraeducators, custodians and all staff have been working so hard to prepare for your return. It is very clear how special the school community is here at Kitsap Lake. Stop by and say hello when you see me in the hall, introduce yourself to me and any new face you see! Hi KLE Families!
I’m Ashley Gunderson, and I’m so excited to be stepping into a new role this year as the SEL Dean & Literacy Specialist here at Kitsap Lake Elementary!
I’ve spent the past 10 years working in Special Education, with experience in Developmental Preschool, Birth-to-Three/Early Intervention, and, for the last two years, here at Kitsap Lake in our Integrated Skills Program (ISP). Supporting students with diverse academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs has been a passion of mine and such a meaningful part of my career. I’m looking forward to bringing those experiences into this new role and am grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting our students and families while connecting with even more of our KLE community.
I’m looking forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, connection, and new opportunities!

Counselor Corner
Good morning KLE families,
Bremerton School District is committed to supporting every student's social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. SEL screening provides school staff with valuable information about how students are feeling, interacting with others, and engaging at school.
The results help schools better understand student needs at both the individual and school-wide levels. This information is used to create supportive learning environments, identify students who may benefit from additional support, and guide school-wide planning to help all students succeed.
Families who do not want their child to participate in the SEL screening may opt out by contacting their child's homeroom teacher or school counselor before September 7, 2026. The teacher or counselor will explain the opt-out process and ensure the student is not included in the screening.

The Bremerton School District uses ParentSquare for all school and classroom communications. Messages are delivered in your preferred language via email, text, or the app, and you can message your child’s teachers directly.

Account Setup: Accounts are created automatically using your Skyward contact info. Unregistered parents will receive an invitation link the week of August 24, but you can activate your account anytime on the website using your SkywardQ email.

All Bremerton School District schools participate in the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which allows all students to receive free breakfast and lunch every school day—no application required!
However, to maintain critical state funding for essential education programs, we ask all families to complete the Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit (CNEEB) application each year.
While traditional free and reduced-price meal applications are no longer collected annually, the CNEEB form provides required household data that keeps state funding in our schools. Families seeking Summer EBT (S-EBT) benefits must have a current CNEEB form on file.
