What a fantastic start to the year at Kitsap Lake! We were thrilled to welcome back returning students and celebrate our newest Eagles as they joined KLE. All of our new students were sorted into the house system at our first all-school assembly! Remember to show your House Pride on Wednesdays! Our kindergarten friends braved their very first days of school with big smiles (and maybe a few happy tears from parents!), and it was wonderful to see our whole community show up ready to learn.
There's been so much new energy here this week; new faces, new friendships, and a new school year full of possibility. Thank you to our families for your patience and support during this transition, to our students for bringing such great energy into the building, to our incredible staff for making every child feel welcome, and to our district office staff for being present and for their continued partnership in making this year a success.

Notes from the Nest
Over the past week, we have been spending time with our students reviewing our school expectations and what it means to be a kind, respectful, and responsible member of our KLE community. We have been talking about making good choices, showing respect to others, being safe, and doing our best each day.
We have also been talking about something just as important—making friends! Students are learning how to introduce themselves, include others, solve small problems, and show kindness to classmates. The beginning of a new school year can bring lots of new faces and new friendships, and we are excited to watch our students grow together as Eight Houses, One Eagle Family!

Counselor Corner
Good afternoon KLE families,
Bremerton School District is committed to supporting every student's social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. SEL screening provides school staff with valuable information about how students are feeling, interacting with others, and engaging at school.
Families who do not want their child to participate in the SEL screening may opt out by contacting their child's homeroom teacher or school counselor before September 7, 2026. The teacher or counselor will explain the opt-out process and ensure the student is not included in the screening.
Our weekend backpack program started this week as students return forms we will be updating the roster. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
