Dear Kitsap Lake Families,
What a great second week we've had! Students are settling into their routines, and our staff have been busy teaching procedures and expectations in every area of the building - the classroom, cafeteria, hallways, playground, and beyond. It's wonderful to see instruction in full swing throughout the school!
On-Time Arrival Matters
Drop off begins at 8:55 AM, and school starts promptly at 9:05 AM. Please help your child build strong habits by getting them to school on time each day - every minute in class counts, and a consistent morning routine sets students up for a successful day of learning.
Pick-Up & Drop-Off Reminders
Parent pick-up has been running much more smoothly this week - thank you for your patience and cooperation! A few reminders to keep things safe and efficient for everyone:

Please do not park along the side road. This blocks buses from safely entering the property.

If your child needs help getting into the vehicle, please park in the parking lot and walk up to the Eagle Doors to get them. This keeps the drive-up pick-up line moving quickly for all families.
Eight Houses, One Eagle Family!
All of our students have been sorted into their school Houses! Ask your student which House they belong to and what it means to be part of our Eagle Family. This year-long house system will build community and school spirit across every grade level.
iReady Reading Assessments
Students in all grade levels are preparing for or currently taking their iReady reading assessments. These assessments give us important baseline data to understand where each learner is starting the year, so we can best support their growth.
Please encourage your learner to get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast, and always do their best - we're proud of their effort no matter the score!

Notes from the Nest
You may hear your student talk about “The Nest”—but what is it? The Nest is KLE’s dedicated space for social-emotional and behavioral support, where students can work with a supportive adult to manage big emotions, problem-solve conflicts, make positive choices, and build skills for returning to learning.
Families can practice these skills at home too:

Name the feeling: Help your child put emotions into words: “It looks like you’re feeling frustrated.”

Notice body clues: Talk about how big feelings show up in their body, like a fast heartbeat, tight muscles, or hot cheeks.

Practice asking for a break: Encourage your child to recognize when they need space and say, “Can I have a minute?”

Counselor Corner
Hello KLE families! I am ready for a new year of learning, growing, and belonging together! As we begin the school year, we’ll focus on building positive routines, relationships, and social-emotional skills that help students feel safe, connected, and ready to learn.
This year, I’ll be working with all grade levels through SEL lessons, classroom support, and our new all-school recess! We’ll practice friendship skills, problem-solving, managing emotions, kindness, and respect—all while creating a fun, supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.
Families can help by keeping consistent routines, talking about feelings, and encouraging children to ask for help when they need it.

Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures
All families are expected to follow the Carr Blvd route and make a right turn into KLE. This keeps traffic flowing safely and allows our buses to access our bus loop in a timely manner. Kitsap Lake staff will provide families with placards to display during car pick up or walking pick up. This helps us quickly identify students and get them safely to you. If you have not received one of these yet please contact our main office. If you arrive to school after 9:10, our policy is that you will need to escort your child into the office to check them in.

We wanted to let families know that our Special Grown-Up Lunch has been rescheduled for Monday, September 29th.
We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause. We hope you’ll still be able to join us for this fun opportunity to enjoy lunch and spend some special time with your student! We’re looking forward to seeing all of our special grown-ups at KLE!
