Hello, Eagle Families!
Grown Up Lunch is THIS Tuesday, September 29!
I'm so excited to welcome our families into the building for one of my favorite traditions. Students are invited to bring a parent, grandparent, relative, or special grown up in their life to share lunch with them.

Check-in starts at 11:00 AM out front by the crosswalk. Look for the sign-in table that matches the first letter of your student's last name (A–H, I–Q, R–Z). If you didn't RSVP, no worries. Just head to the Non-RSVP table.

Families with one student enter through the Main Office doors.

Families with more than one student enter through the Eagle Doors and eat with all their kids together in the gym.

Lunch runs 11:15–11:45 AM in your student's classroom. At 11:45 we'll make an announcement for grown ups to head out while students go to recess.

Eight Houses, One Eagle Family
If you've heard your child cheering "Go Blue!" or "Bears comin' through!", you've already met our House System! Every student and staff member at Kitsap Lake belongs to one of our eight Houses:
Isibindi • Reveur • Amistad • Altruismo • Protos • Nukumori • Onraka • Sollevare
Our Houses mix students from Kindergarten through 5th grade, so older students mentor younger ones and everyone has a family beyond their classroom. Each week, Houses meet for an activity that builds teamwork, friendship, and a whole lot of Eagle spirit.
How do students earn House points? Every day, staff award points to students (and their House!) for showing our character traits:

Being Safe: making smart choices and taking care of themselves and others

Being Responsible: being prepared, following directions, and doing their best work

Being Respectful: using kind words, listening, and including others
-
Showing Kindness and Teamwork: helping a classmate, cheering on a housemate, lifting others up
Every point counts, and Houses compete all year long for bragging rights!
Show your House pride every Wednesday! Students are encouraged to wear their House color or House t-shirt each Wednesday.
Ask your child tonight: What House are you in, and what's your House chant? I promise you'll get an enthusiastic answer!

A Message from the Counselor & Dean
Recess is an important time for students to play, connect, and practice social-emotional skills. With many students sharing the same space, disagreements and big feelings can happen. We are reminding our Eagles how to handle these moments safely, respectfully, and responsibly.
-
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. When upset, use words, create space, and get adult help instead of responding physically.

Pause and reset. If emotions get big, stop, take a breath, walk away, and choose a safe activity or find an adult.

Get help right away. If something happens at recess, students should tell a yellow-vest recess adult as soon as possible. Adults are there to listen, help, and support students.

Be honest. Encourage your child to share what they personally saw, heard, experienced, or did. Telling the truth helps adults understand what happened and determine how best to help.
Please talk with your child about what they can do when a problem happens at recess.
Tell the truth, even when they are worried about what might happen next.
Tell a recess adult right away instead of waiting or asking another student to report it.
Look for the yellow vest when they need help.
Keep their hands, feet, and objects to themselves, even when upset.
Walk away and create space when they need a reset.
Ask an adult for help when they cannot solve a problem safely on their own.
Our goal is to help our Eagles learn to make safe choices, take responsibility, solve problems respectfully, and ask for help when they need it.

We wanted to let families know that our Special Grown-Up Lunch has been rescheduled for Tuesday, September 29th.
