What a week, Eagles! There are so many exciting events on the horizon, and I’m thrilled to see more and more families joining us and getting involved. The positive connections growing between our students, staff, and families are what make Kitsap Lake such a special place.
This week, one of our students surprised me with a beautiful eagle statue as a gift to our school. It’s now proudly displayed in the entryway case for everyone to enjoy. I’m so touched that he thought of me, and even more grateful that I get to share it with every person who walks through our doors. Be sure to stop by and take a look!
A reminder: keep wearing your house colors on Wednesdays! It’s a great way to show the characteristics of a KLE Eagle and to arrive eager to learn.
We are gearing up for the Fall Festival on October 29th! I am bracing myself for all of the Pie's in the Face!
I continue to be so proud to be the newest member of the Eagle family. Thank you for welcoming me!
With Eagle pride, Principal, Kitsap Lake Elementary

Notes from the Nest
Recess Reminder: Safe Bodies, Kind Words & Good Sportsmanship!
Recess is a time for students to have fun, build friendships, and practice important social skills! Lately, we've noticed an increase in some challenging recess behaviors, so we're taking time to review what safe, respectful play looks like at KLE.
We are reminding students of a few important expectations:
Use kind and appropriate words. Swearing, name-calling, and hurtful language are not okay. At KLE, we build each other up!
Practice good sportsmanship. Winning and losing are both part of playing! Follow the rules, celebrate others, and remember that having fun is more important than winning.
Respect personal space. Keep hands, feet, and bodies to yourself. Even pretending to hit or kick someone can make others feel unsafe.
Handle frustration safely. It's okay to feel frustrated or disappointed, but yelling in someone's face, threatening others, or using unsafe actions is not okay.
Ask an adult for help. If a game gets frustrating or a disagreement happens, take a break or find an adult in a yellow vest for support.
How families can help: Talk with your child about being a good teammate, handling disagreements, and showing kindness even when things don't go their way. Practicing these skills at home makes a big difference!
Together, we can keep recess a safe, positive, and fun experience for ALL students!

Counselor Corner
This month, we are focusing on the importance of regular school attendance! Did you know that being present at school each day helps your child succeed both academically and socially? Students who attend regularly have more opportunities to learn new skills, build meaningful relationships with peers and teachers, strengthen communication skills, and develop a sense of belonging.
We want to partner with you to support your child’s success! As a reminder, after 2–7 unexcused absences during the school year, our school is required to take data-informed steps to help reduce and prevent further absences. Additionally, district policy requires us to communicate with families after 5 excused absences to review attendance expectations and share information about our attendance policies.
Please take a moment to review your child’s attendance. You have one week to contact the school office to excuse any absences that have not yet been reported.
Every day at school is an opportunity to learn, connect, and grow. If your family is experiencing challenges that make regular attendance difficult, please reach out. We are here to listen, support you, and work together to help your child thrive!
With care and support, Jenn Uniszkiewicz
